kids room

when mabel was on the way, i looked everywhere trying to find inspiration for how to decorate the kids bedroom. i could find absolutely nothing. it seems that everyone out there does things the american way..with each child having their own bedroom.

paul and i never saw the point of that. especially since the kids have their playroom separate. meaning the sole purpose of their bedroom can be just that.
a bed room.

when ava was born, this was her little nursery.
and when max was born and moved in, i got rid of the pink and made it just green and yellow. but the furniture was still white which was a little too feminine for my taste.

so, when i was expecting mabel, we got rid of all the white furniture. and started from scratch. and then when we moved here, even though there are four bedrooms in the house we decided to keep all three kids in the same room. this picture below is when we were under contract, so the furniture is the previous owners.

befores and afters:

basically, i decided on the color scheme from the curtains.
i knew i wanted something bright and cheery but not overly so.

the colors in the I am a Child of God vinyl are matching the curtains.
as is the mobile.

and the kids bedding.

and the rugs
and the blue and brown on the chair.

{p.s. the blue is the same paint from our old living room wall.
i miss that color and love having a little piece of it in our house still.}

And Brook goes 1 & 2!, I really like that you have all the kids in one room and their play room is seperate.. GREAT IDEA! If we can ever get into a place with more than 2 rooms I think I would like to do that as well.

I don't know that having your own room as a kid is a great thing. I had one briefly when I was about 10, and then not until I was in my late teens.
We only have three bedrooms and six kids. It's fine for now, but as time goes on we will need a little more room.

I love that all your kids bunk up. That is so fun - my sister and I had separate rooms our entire growing up, and I think we could have been a lot closer friends had we shared one.. Makes me wonder now. :) I love all the color!

What is the brand/color of you old living room wall? I love that color.

cindy, it's behr premium plus but the label with the name/number has worn off {it's old}. so, if you want, we can paint a piece of wood/paper and mail it to you. you could easily do a color match at home depot or lowe's.

Thanks, you're sweet, but don't worry about it. I was just wondering because I really liked your kitchen. It was so beautiful and cheerful. Your kids room looks so cute. You really have a knack for decorating.
