she has not once put a tooth under her pillow.
basically it boils down to this:
she doesn't want some strange person,
fairy or not,
coming into her room at night
while she's sleeping
and digging around under her pillow.
even if she leaves her money.
poor kid.
i can see her point.
but come on.
it's MONEY.
for icky, little teeth.
so, instead of putting her teeth under her pillow,
she brings me a tooth she has yanked out.
{ya..she pulls them out.}
calmly hands it to me
and i drop it into the mesh drawstring bag
that is now The Tooth Bag.
five in all thus far.
what am i suposed to do with her teeth
once they've all fallen out?
so, check this out.
i have found a solution.

sick?
or hip and cool?
i think one tooth
on a chain might be cool.
like your very first tooth.
but still a little bit disturbing.

Ha ha! Poor Ava! But she definitely has a point. Smart girl! That necklace is sick. I get totally grossed out when kids show me their wiggly or lost teeth. I'm gonna have to get over that...
Miriam had those same issues at first and still worries about someone really coming through her window...sad. At least she is ok with the tooth fairy now, since she knows who it is. ;) But...after I saved the first tooth, I threw the rest away...she understands...and that necklace is....um....
i mean ear ring
I think you're right--Ava has a point. I guess my kids they never thought about someone being in their room--they only thought about the money ; )
And the jewelry--a little creepy.
It reminds me of that Regina Spektor song that mentioned finding a human tooth. ew.
Maybe she could leave the tooth bag on an outside door knob for the tooth fairy?
Ummm....gross!! I don't think I could wear jewelery made out of human teeth. I kept my kids first tooth and then even ended up getting rid of that. I like the idea of leaving the tooth outside on the door.
ick.
at breakfast this morning, i told ava about my blog post and finding the link about tooth jewelry and how she's afraid of the tooth fairy and she looked at me like i was dumb and said, "i know who the tooth fairy is." and ya. she does. she told me it's me. how disappointing. i was hoping she would get over her fear and paul and i could actually play the tooth fairy for once. but no.
I like the tooth jewelry thing!! But to be honest Im a little bit morbid and most people find me . . . odd.
Haha too funny. So I guess she won't be going to see that new tooth fairy movie with the Rock in it? lol. I think that bracelet is kinda gross...unless a lot of people couldn't tell it was teeth until they got a closer look... hmm. How did she figure out who the tooth fairy really was anyway?!?!
hmmm.....i'm just trying to wrap my head around the fact that shea actually yanks out her own teeth....yuck!
but i don't think that i would ever bronze/14-carrot-gold my kids baby teetch and put them on an earing or chain or anything....yeah, well...
really? people really save teeth? not quite the collection I would want hanging around.
When my kids figure out who the tooth fairy is, I buy them a pack of gum in exchange for a tooth. sugar free of course--and the tooth is promptly thrown away. I did like the bag outside the door thing. even outside the house.
Icky.
My boy hasn't lost teeth yet, but is terrified of the Tooth Fairy for the same reason. He's only OK with Santa because Santa stays downstairs.
He's already declared that he wants to leave his teeth on the bathroom counter, and that the Tooth Fairy can get them from there.
Um, ew.
Junie B Jones Toothless Wonder is a great tooth fairy book. Junie's pretty freaked about the whole thing, but it resolves in a really cute way.
And did I mention that the earring is, um, ew?
She must have seen that scary movie!! :P I don't blame her. She's smarter than the rest of us that have accepted the tooth fairy. HA.
Before I read this post, I had looked at the earring and thought, "oo! how pretty!" but ... eeeeek!! it's TEETH! It reminds me of something a tribal person would wear to represent how many people he's cannibalized. haha!! So sorry.. just what came to mind. But! if no one knew what it was, it would be very pretty!
